The Ford 10-bolt top-loader was introduced in Mid January, 1964 replacing the B&W T10 4-speed.  It was a much stronger transmission, fully synchroized in all forward gears and available with the 390" and 427" engines.  The 4-speed was not available in the station wagons.

The Borg & Warner was introduced in the mid 1962 and carried thru until replaced by the Ford 4-speed in mid January 1964.

The original automatic transmission used behind all 352" and 390" engines and some 289" engines.  Dual Range refered to the 2 "Drive" postions on the shift. D1 (green dot) would start in 1st and shift to 2nd then 3rd.  D2 (white dot) would start in 2nd for more traction on ice and snow.

The C4 was new for 1964, (hence the C4 ID) and was a light weight aluminum bellhousing/body used behind the 223" I6 and smaller 289" V8. Dual Range refered to the 2 "Drive" postions on the shift.
